The Education Centre is a primary area for visitors to gather information on the animals on display at the Park. It also functions as a flow through self guided exhibit intended to capture the visitor's attention and encourage further interest and involvement in conservation and environmental awareness.
The visitor display area comprises of three main features:
- Interactive Displays- three plasma touch screen displays for the browsing visitor to play and explore.
- Research Stations- two dedicated terminals for the student, researcher or other persons to access more in-depth information.
- Library- Turtle books, publications, plus other related publications and reference materials for serious research. Some Boatswain's Beach research information can be made available upon request.
The Library features general interest and research materials both in print and electronic form. Information is primarily geared towards sea turtles but information is also available on all species found at Boatswains Beach and all aspects of Cayman's flora, fauna and marine and terrestrial ecology. Access to all materials may not be made available to the general university students. This building provides workspace for visiting researchers, students and interested visitors.
The Education Center building also houses the Turtle Hatchery and two laboratories. The hatchery features two separate temperature environments to optimize egg hatching success and turtle production. Visitors can view the egg incubation process, watch staff monitoring egg development and observe current research projects through a floor-to-ceiling viewing panel from the visitor area.
